Swap Meet Goodies

Hey hey hey. It's late in the week but here I am, I've been busy getting my ish together in my Etsy shop, finally listing items and not at crazy prices cause I freaking hate when people do that.  I couldn't wait to share with you the great finds I found at the San Bernardino swap meet last Sunday. San Bernardino is the home of the 1st McDonalds, ever. It also also boasts a pretty high murder rate. I think it's 15th in the U.S. these days but don't quote me. Enough of the 187, check out this fancy beadwork!

Sorry, I had to crop out my maternity panty line. gross.

This gorgeous beaded and sequined jacket cost me $9 dollars. I think I was still bitter from our garage sale and people trying to lower my prices so I innocently said to the lady, "Will you take 7 for it?" She told me no, and that it was worth way more than that. I respected her for that. My kinda lady. Of course it was worth more than $9.00. I was just being the same a$$hole that came to my own garage sale.

These shoes have a story, I know, I'm full of them today. I saw them at the Alameda Antique Fair but passed them up as I was running low on cash. And then for days after I could not stop thinking about them and googling "victorian granny boots lace brocade." I decided I would find the vendor on the internet because I remember her having an Etsy shop. Found her on twitter, tweeted her, she listed them for me, and then they finally came home to mama with a note that she accepts ATM, oops.  Here is her blog http://blog.nickienoel.com/ I found this purse that matched perfectly at a garage sale.

Car emblem necklace made by me, now available in my shop here http://www.etsy.com/listing/96518115/cadillac-car-emblem-necklace

And for my last trick, this polar bear sweater I got for $1.00! What is cuter than two polar bears choking one another on a sweater? Don't worry, I'll wait.

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee thanks for visiting me.

Polka Dots and Palazzos

What? You don't walk out in the snow in your open toes, palazzos, and pussy bow?

I usually say no to polka dots but this bow was just too cute. So I thought. What is on your fashion dislikes list? My list is long and I constantly wear things from it. My boyfriend calls me out, "I thought you hated pink? You wear it all the time." Ain't nobody sued me yet.

Oh yes, it's all thrifted. But you know that by now because we are such great friends.

Snow what

It snowed last weekend. Where I live, it's just at the elevation where you do get snow. It only snows like once a year and I was getting scared it wasn't going to snow because my mom bought us all snow boots for Xmas and it was March and we hadn't used them yet. The snow only last a few days because it's warm so it melts. Gosh this sounds so boring.

My niece and nephew came over and we went for a hike. Of course the diva in me couldn't resist getting dolled up and bringing my DIY sequin platforms along for a few shots.

shoes- thrifted and DIY

Where's Waldo? Just kidding, that's just my baby's dad. My niece took a nice set of photos of us frolicking through the snow. Would be perfect engagement photos if we were into engagement and weddings and all that hoopla. Instead I consider them our "having a baby out of wedlock series."

I originally wanted to show you my coat collection but I got tired out after the hike. So, here is my other winter coat that my aunt gave to me last summer.  I barely got to wear any of my winter coats this year cause it was such a warm winter. I do have another long coat, it's pink. Use your imagination.

Bye bye friends and thanks for reading this nonsense.

My Elvira look

On Saturday I went to Wonder Con with my comic obsessed nerd baby daddy. I saw some very interesting things.

A girl with a Chewbacca backpack
Chewbacca in a wheel chair (really, the guy who played him)
The lady from the shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho"
Elvira, but it was 20 dollars to take a pic with her and get her autograph
A red Power Ranger with a stuffed crotch
1 Harajuku girl
My emo non-pregnant twin
Steam punks

I came to the conclusion that most of the people that stand in the lobby and take pictures with young girls and children are registered sex offenders, disguising themselves in full body costumes such as storm troopers and Iron Man. There was also girl's volleyball competition going on and a cheer competition. How ideal. My boyfriend bought me $13.00 worth of food. That included 3 tacos, beans, and a 3 dollar can of soda. It was very satisfying. Especially after standing/sitting in line for 30 minutes. Oh my aching back.

Yes, that is Hello Kitty as La Virgen de Guadalupe. It was made for me by Dolly Cool Care Check her out! I love her jewelry. I had admired it after seeing Dora wear her line and then Dora had this made for me and mailed it to me. awwww. How sweet. Big thanks to you both!

dress- thrifted but from F-21
shoes- Jessica Simpson, from Marshalls

Oh yeah, it snowed! More on that later...

P.S.

If you noticed I've been getting a little thick around the edges recently, you aren't a hater, you are correct. For the past 4 months I've been growing a muppet baby in my very own uterus. I've told some of you already, but this is my official announcement. No one believed me anyways, since I was the girl who always cried wolf and thought I was pregnant every month. You may remember my post from July, "Dude, where's my period?" http://lasophialasophia.blogspot.com/2011/07/dude-wheres-my-period.html But this time it's for reals and we're really excited to be starting our own family. We find out the gender next week, hopefully.

shoes- thrifted, $2.00

Look Ma', no birth control!

My jacket has fringe. My dress has birds. My tooth has lipstick.

I hope we can remain friends even though I'm prego. I promise I'll keep dressing normal.

Can you believe we all grew in our mother's wombs for so long? It blows my mind.

Makeup fun

There are few things I enjoy more than putting heavy makeup on my underage family members. Two of my nieces are 14 and one is 21. For my niece Sera, I chose a light peacock look. You know, something subtle that required scotch tape to make clean lines. Something that would help her stand out at the bowling alley later that evening.

She look like a peacock, or as they say in Spanish, real turkey, pavo real.

I found a video tutorial for the look on youtube. Seems to be the only way you learn anything worth knowing these days.

My next niece got a subtle look. I heard green eyeshadow makes brown eyes pop. Autumn is the brownest person in our family, therefore, she is very special. She doesn't have to GTL, just GL.

Cierra is the first born, 21, and a real diva. For her b-day, she drug the whole family to Vegas. Grandparents, parents, brother and sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She goes hard, especially on the dance floor. The cha cha slide is her all time fave.

I called this, "Three knuckle heads on a rock."

And this was my look of the day. I call it, Hello Kitty hobo. I was so busy with the vanity of others, I damn well forgot my own. I think Cierra said this is her fave pic of me. What a hater.

Both of my nieces used my Hana straightening iron that was sent to me. They love it and always ask to use it when they come over. It works really well for them, they both have long thick hair. I don't use it as much cause Im stuck on my old one. Like a granny you buy body wash for, but she still uses her bar of soap, even though body wash is easier to handle. There, I think that was an honest review. Have a fun week and go heavy on the makeup. Its funnnnn.

It's cookie time

It's that time of year again, no not lent, Girl Scout cookie time. What can be better than deciduous cookies? A deciduous forest? Not even close. This year was cool because I didn't even have to have a live encounter with a Girl Scout to get my cookies. My uncle bought my favorite kind for me "Carmel de-lites" formerly known as "Samoas." I'm glad these scouts finally got their act together and stopped with the cookie profiling of this South Pacific nation.

Vanilla cookies coated in caramel, sprinkled with toasted coconut and laced with chocolate stripes.

I rationed myself to 2 cookies a day, just like World War II times. Actually, customers were limited to a purchase of only 2 boxes. Can you tell I was on Wikipedia?

vintage blazer- thrifted S.P.C.A. (the one that helps animals)
pants- Hollister many seasons ago when I still walked into that dark hole of a store
shoes- Target

I never was a Girl Scout myself. Something about it never appealed to me. Maybe the green vests with strange patches. Or maybe how it didn't teach you any life skills. No, they probably did teach you life skills. Maybe I didn't want to sell cookies. I knew it would never be like how it was in my favorite movie, "Troop Beverly Hills."

If you have not seen this important piece of cinematic history, please, do yourself a favor. Or watch the clip below. It's a catchy tune, I promise.

And my boyfriend says I don't like good movies. ppppfffffffffffff.

A cold day

With a furry coat, anything is possible. I didn't let winter hold me back from wearing my psychedelic shorts. Weather has been cold here, rainy and depressing. Finally decided to put on some real clothes and stop feeling sorry for myself.

I look back at my life and realize, when I thought times were bad, they really weren't. But it took me going through worse circumstances to realize that. Recently, I've been through a lot of life changing events. Things a lot of people my age have not been through. I've withdrawn myself from a lot and gotten closer to things I needed. The only things certain in life are sex and death. Good thing I've got a nice wardrobe to keep my spirits up. wah wah wah wahhhhhhh. Ok, Im done vaguely expressing myself.

I look forward to being independent again, having my own family, and my own life. Oh, and warmer weather.

March forth, (Maricela's bday, and the moral of this emo post)
