Spring Equinox

"How I Spent My Spring Equinox"

By,
LaSophia

First, I looked at the forecast...

Hmm...Thats strange, looks like rain all week! But isn't this the season of bucking burros and "crying" cats? Guess not. Luckily, I thrifted these red boots and fetch furry white Steve Madden coat, or as I like to call it, Steve Mancha, because there is a stain on the hood that I didn't have time to scrub out. I was too eager to wear it bowling with my boyfriend.

"Don't I look like puss in boots?"
"You look like a rabbit prostitute."
"Thats mean."
"I'm sorry, a high end rabbit prostitute. Like the ones in Vegas."

At the bowling alley, we were told if we waited 15 minutes we could get the 1 dollar game special. So off we went to the bar and I drank a little Mai Thai. And then I drank another, chipped 2 panda nails, and lost 3 games of bowling. But boy I sure was crunk warm in my furry coat.

Happy "Spring,"

Everlasting Winter

If you are like someone I know, and battle seasonal depression and by seasonal, I mean every season, I feel your pain. Back in November, I wrote myself this list to help myself through what I knew would be a long winter:

1. Stay Caffeinated
2. Stick to your 3 item limit at Taco Bell
3. Exercise, put on some sweats and run down your street like Rocky.
4. Dance, its good for your soul
5. Keep your weekly appointment with your therapist, uh-I mean hired confidant
6. Keep some uplifting reading on your night stand. Im not talking "Eat Pray Love" weak! Im talking 600 pages of the Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath.
7. Take pride in your ride, wash it, vacuum it, its a sense of accomplishment.

And then...some unforeseen events happened. Things my psychic mother couldn't even have predicted. I got a part time job, got a fine baby daddy, and kicked a nasty habit after twenty years (nail biting). I should be out of the woods right? Wrong. Winter still has a hold on me and here on March 19th, I sit typing this through a rainy storm. Here is my attempt to get out of bed and do something with myself.  Yesterday, I spent the day with Beyonce and mines mutual friends: Me, myself, and I. I'm not taking a vow to be my own best friend, I'm just taking a vow to do more with myself. With my existence. More than the minimum. And hopefully, by doing that, I can shake off some of this funk.

Me, Myself, and my tripod. Wait, maybe that was what that whole song was about?

My black and white handmade floral headband. You cant see the black so much because of the darkness of my Mexican emo hair.

Red floral headband made by me.

My thinking face.

My inanimate friends in no particular order:

shirt- thrifted
shorts- they were my dads jeans
headbands- made by me out of cardstock paper, super biodegradable
jade rose ring- Forever 21

Who is scared for my emotional and mental well being?
-Don't be. I enjoy my solitude. I hate: facebook, phone calls, texts, voicemails ect. I like: emails, coffee, sleep, sun, grammar, beats, and unexpected large sums of money even if they are often accompanied by a premonition in which I lose some or all of my teeth.

A Day in the Bay

I'm going to Golden Gate Park, and I'm taking....

-Tupac Shakur
-My Target tights, over the knees, and boots
-A F21 bandage skirt
-My gifted Guess jacket (from my mom, not the company, I wish...)
-My baby daddy who is not on the male birth control pill because its not on the market yet, but if it was, he still wouldn't take it.
-Some thermals, in case it gets cold, or if we get too crunk to drive home, rent a hotel, and have to wake up early to move the car because parking is a bitch and then end up at McDonalds at 7am, daylight savings time, oh ish, so really 6am, with a fat order and no way to pay for it because the machine is broken for debit and the diva conveniently left her Hello Kitty purse full of cash in the room.

I want this in my backyard.

Just after he...
A. Proposed
B. Shared a Polish dog with me
C. Touched up my lipstick

Twas a trick! B and C.

Pandas having lunch.

Pandas climbing trees.

You've met my ear right? My knitted bow from a homegirl who has a shop on Etsy but I cant find it...

Can you see where Full House was taped?

Where MGMT made their video for Electric Feel.

Wow, Im really full of jokes.
Much Love,
Sophia

Once Upon a Bowl Cut

Let's play a game. Have you ever...had a bowl cut? I win. I feel not the need to explain the who what when where why and how of this cut but I will say it has been a bizsnatch to grow out. In retrospect, it looks fun, but Im ready for some long locks again. Having the bowl was cool but unless I had makeup and hoops on, I kinda felt like the little boy I never was. What is the most daring thing you've ever done with your hair? I think I have a lot of hair balls. uh er...To the photos.

Maybe if I put this large yellow rose in my hair people will still think I'm a girl.

True friends embrace your bowl.

Look at that bowl go! Bought my shoes online from Urban Outfitters, lets just say I was gelin that night. They were still a little big.
