DIY Bow tie

bow tie- DIY
shirt- thrifted
skirt- thrifted
socks- Eff 21
boots- Steve Madden

Look Ma, no sewing machine!

Well well well, seems like you can teach an old perra new tricks. I watched a lot of videos on youtube and in the end was able to produce a legit bow tie. I used a black velvety dress I got for free at the Goodwill on Black Friday. The had 200 items free in the store and you had to find them. The dress was useless until now. Also cut up some old clothes I was going to give to the Goodwill. I think the bow tie classes up an outfit. My mom said from the waist up I looked classy, and from the waist down I looked like a hooker. She always gives me grief when I wear fishnets or over the knee socks with short skirts. I don't understand the stigma of socks that go above the knee but I guess I should listen to her, I mean, she was a modest dresser in her day....

Yes, a Harley Davidson crop top with no bra, is truly modest.

  10. i bought some over-the-knee socks at target cuz they were like a million percent off. unfortunately, they created the second and third lonjas on my body. they're not even tight, i just have fat thighs.
i can't wait to go shopping contigo.

  17. LOL! You always make me laugh. When I helped produce fashion shows, I had to train these newbie models. I'd show up to the class and be like, "Alright perras, this is what we have to do..." LMAO! Your usage of the word perra reminded me of that ;)

You look so good in this outfit! Sometimes moms don't know what they're talking about. I know this because my mom will say similar things to me lol.

About the lighting, the best time during fall/winter is between 12noon-3:30pm. After 3:30 the light starts to turn orange and shadows become exaggerated and appear to be more blue/purple. This will make the colors of your outfit look different. I try to avoid that type of lighting (just before sunset) because it can change the saturation of the colors. It also makes darker shadows on our faces. There have been times when I take pictures but I don't post them because they come out so bad. I blame the sun hiding behind those pinche hills.

I had to study this whole sun/shadow shit in art school. At least I learned something :)

Did I write too much? HAHAHAHA! Ooopsy.

  23. I LOVE the bow tie! I was sifting through this giant bin of them at a thrift store the other day, and wanted to take one home and wear it (maybe for New Years?) But my boyfriend put the kibosh on my bow-tie dreams by telling me it'd look silly. DAMN HIM. He was wrong and I never listen to what he says. I shouldn't have that time.

BTW your mom was a total babe.
